FOX to Re-Air Michael Jackson-Featuring ‘The Simpsons’

July 3rd, 2009

The late singer’s voice acting stint as mentally-challenged man on the animated series will hit the TV screen again on Sunday, July 5.

To preserve Michael Jackson’s legacy, FOX is planning to air “The Simpsons” episode where the King of Pop contributed a voice. On Sunday, July 5 at 8/7c, the network will re-run “Stark Raving Dad“, the first episode of season 3 that originally aired in September 1991.

Michael voiced the character of Leon Kompowsky, an overweight brick-layer whom Homer met during his stint at Mental Institution. Leon made Homer believe that he was Michael Jackson. Not recognizing the famous name, Homer brought Leon home to Springfield where many had anticipated the arrival of the star.

Michael was not credited when the episode was first aired because due to contractual reasons, he has to use the pseudonym of John Jay Smith. There is a time where Leon sings, but the singing voice was provided by impressionist Kipp Lennon.

However, Michael’s contribution is beyond just making a guest voice on the show. He also composed the song “Do the Bartman” which was performed by Bart’s voice Nancy Cartwright. The song appeared on The Simpsons’ 1990 album “The Simpsons Sing the Blues” but again, Michael was not credited because he was under contract with another label.

“It was always amazing to me that no one ever found out that Michael Jackson wrote that song,” creator Matt Groening said in 1998. “He was a big fan of the show.” Continue reading FOX to Re-Air Michael Jackson-Featuring ‘The Simpsons’

‘Resident Evil 4′ Supposedly Arrives Late 2010

July 3rd, 2009

Words are, Sony’s Screen Gems eyes to follow up ‘Resident Evil: Extinction‘ with ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife‘ that will open wide in theaters in September 2010.

A year after director/scribe Paul W. S. Anderson said he is working on fourth “Resident Evil” movie, reports on possible release date are coming in for the fourth installment of the video game adaptation series. Shock Till You Drop (STYD) recently broke out that the studio eyes to release the movie in U.S. theaters by September 17, 2010.

STYD claimed the news came from a Sony insider suggesting that an internal memo of the matter has circulated through the studio’s offices. In addition to the potential release date, the site reported that the fourth movie is likely to be called “Resident Evil: Afterlife“. Screen Gems, Sony’s subsidiary company which has produced the previous “Resident Evil” movies, is yet to give any official comment on the story.

Back in late 2008, “Resident Evil” director Anderson has told IGN that he is writing another installment of “Resident Evil” franchise. “I’m writing a script right now. The script side is happening. It’s going to be difficult what’s happening when until the whole SAG [strike] thing is resolved,” he said at the time. “But that’s something I’m working on right now. Everyone at [game developer] Capcom has had their input into the idea and they’re all very excited.”

Though noting that he is working on the project, he remained coy on whether the fourth film would center on Milla Jovovich’s Alice or Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield. So far, Jovovich has yet to confirm her involvement as Alice in the project. [Spoiler Alert!] Words are, the story will shift to Tokyo, Japan as hinted in the end of “Resident Evil: Extinction“.

Zac Efron and Megan Fox Getting Cozy During Dinner Date

July 3rd, 2009

Seen enjoying a romantic dinner date at a Los Angeles restaurant, Zac Efron and Megan Fox ignite dating speculation.

Zac Efron and Megan Fox set tongue wagging after it was reported that they enjoyed a romantic dinner date at Pace, an upscale restaurant in Los Angeles’ woodsy Laurel Canyon neighborhood, on Tuesday, June 30. “They were very friendly and their faces were close when they talked,” a fellow diner told Celebuzz.

There has been no picture provided by the site as evidence of the twosome’s togetherness. Besides, neither of the film stars has commented on the report, which is soon to provoke speculation that both of them are embarking on a love relationship despite the fact that he is still dating actress girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.

Back in November 2008, Megan Fox publicly told Page Six that she was obsessed with Zac Efron. “What you don’t know is that Zac and I are the same person … it’s like Janet and Michael [Jackson], we are the same person,” she was quoted as saying. And in January this year, Zac and Megan were reported flirting at a Golden Globe Awards after-party.
