Joe Manganiello as Alcide Herveaux on “True Blood”

Joe Manganiello, as Alcide Herveaux, will appear on the third season of the hot vampire series based on the series of books by author Charlaine Harris. “Club Dead: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel” is the third book in the series by the New York Times bestselling author.

The third installment of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, “Club Dead,” introduces Alcide Herveaux as a werewolf sent by Eric (played by Alex Skarsgård) to protect Sookie Stackhouse while her vampire boyfriend Bill Compton is away on “business.” Read more…

The Sing Off Begins on NBC with Ben Folds & Nicole Scherzinger as Judges

NBC’s The Sing Off premieres tonight, so watch it while you can because it won’t be around for long.

The Sing Off, which is hosted by Nick Lachey, is a four-night singing competition featuring eight a capella groups from around the country. There are no backing bands used on The Sing Off. So it’s all about the voices as the groups compete for a $100,000 prize. Vote for your favorite here.

The Sing Off is judged by Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, musician Ben Folds, and Boyz II Men star Shawn Stockman. But the viewers, not the judges, will decide who wins the cash prize in the end. Read more…

Tonight : Carrie Underwood All-Star Holiday Special

Carrie Underwood has beaten the odds: at a time of the year when TV is clogged with Christmas specials, she managed to put one together that stood out. It had something for everyone — singing, sentiment, silliness, and sex. And she made its charms last for a full two hours.

At first, it was a little hard to see where the “holiday” in this An All-Star Holiday Special was going to apply. Underwood began by singing “Cowboy Casanova” attired in various tight black materials, with what looked like platform boots borrowed from KISS. Oh my, I thought, what a refreshing alternative to the seasonal red-and-green!

When I first read Underwood’s eclectic guest list — Dolly Parton and David Cook, no surprises there; but Kristen Chenoweth and Christina Applegate, too? — I thought, uh-oh, this could be a trying-to-please-everybody bland-fest. Instead, this varied line-up proved to be one of the strengths of the evening. Yes, she sang an impeccable duet with Dolly, a stark “I Will Always Love You.” Read more…
