The frontrunner nominee for TV category at the 11th Annual Teen Choice Awards is The CW’s ‘Gossip Girl‘, followed by FOX’s ‘American Idol‘.
“Gossip Girl” has a big chance to walk out with multiple prizes at this year’s Teen Choice Awards after getting 10 nominations, both for the series and the cast. Almost all the main actors such as Penn Badgley, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively grab one each. The CW series is one of the top scorers of the whole nominations list after “Twilight” which dominates with 12 nods.
Right behind “Gossip Girl” in terms of number is “American Idol“. Scoring 7 nominations in total, the reality singing competition earns among others through its judge Simon Cowell, host Ryan Seacrest, and two recent contestants, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. It additionally takes the nomination for Choice Tour.
Also pocketing noms are Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato who score through their Disney shows, “Hannah Montana” and “Sonny with a Chance” respectively. Miley in particular has 10 nods when accumulated with the feature movie version of “Hannah”. She tweeted, “i still cant believe im up for all the teen choice awards! please please please vote!
” Demi, whose show is relatively new, wrote on Twitter “I’ve been nominated for 3 Teen Choice awards!!!!! I’ve never been nominated for anything like this… I’m so happy!!! Yayyy!!!”
Two surprises in the list are “Glee” which only aired its pilot in May and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” which has been canceled by FOX. Nevertheless the nominations are not excluding adult-oriented shows as well, such as “Desperate Housewives“, “Entourage” and “South Park“.
2009 Teen Choice Awards, which is in its 11th year, will be hosted by Jonas Brothers. Teens can start voting for their favorites at the official site where nominees for other categories like movie, music and pop culture can be found.
