‘12 Angry Men’: Drama staged in Historic Courthouse
Twelve men. Twelve backgrounds. Twelve personalities. Twelve perspectives. Twelve completely different individuals charged with a single task: Reach a unanimous verdict in the murder trial of a 16-year-old boy accused of stabbing his father to death in their Bronx apartment.
If the jurors find reasonable doubt, they must find him not guilty. If there is no doubt, the jurors must find him guilty, a verdict that automatically invokes the death penalty.
The Flat Rock Playhouse production of “12 Angry Men” opened Wednesday evening to a sold-out audience in the courtroom of the Historic Henderson County Courthouse in downtown Hendersonville. An ensemble cast of Playhouse veterans and newcomers masterfully handles the dramatic Reginald Rose script that has been adapted by Sherman Sergel. The intimate setting in the old courtroom adds to the intensity of the action as each man struggles with his own view of the evidence presented. Read more…
